Moving to a New Computer

Postby OlYeller21 » Sat Dec 26, 2015 6:27 pm

I must not be great at searching because for something this common (moving the server to a new system), I wasn't able to find much info about this through searching.

I'd use the standard help format but I don't think it applies to this situation.

I've had a license since about August 2010, I'm building a new computer, and I'm moving my storage hard drives to a new setup (fresh OS).

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for this?

I don't have any intricate settings but would like to preserve all user info so that I don't have to recreate users. I'm guessing that copying files over will do the trick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: If I need to have my license transferred, I'd be happy to donate. It's the least I can do for software my family and I love so much.

If you are using windows, and using the default installation for both PCs and your music collection is in the same location, then all you have to do is replace the folder C:\subsonic from the old to the new PC. If your music collection is different from the old location, then log into subsonic and change it in your setup.

Note: just to make things smooth. Make sure your NEW PC is using the same subsonic version as the OLD PC.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot tonight.

if it isn't too late: if you have playlists, export them all, hold on to those .m3u8 files.

After things move, the playlists will be out if the files are in different places, so you'll need to then edit those files with the new physical locations of the files (a mass find/replace in notepad should do it) and recreate them by uploading those files back.

its a crappyt way to migrate you subsonic !
Use this :
https://wiki.cementhorizon.com/display/CH/How+to+clean+up+a+corrupted+Subsonic+database

and in the middle of the topic install you're frsh system and a fresh subsonic ! then add the old database in it and then restart subsonic !
