Subsonic 6 will not play all music

Postby timypcr » Mon Jun 06, 2016 5:00 pm

I recently installed subsonic 6, and notice not all songs play. I notice this on a hand full of albums were none of the MP3s within the album will play. I just get the spinning play button and nothing happens (see screen shot) If I download the MP3s in question to my computer they play no problem. I have also checked file permissions and they appear to have the same permissions as all the other albums/songs that play without issue.

The log file /var/log/subsonic.log does not log any event when attempting to play one of these MP3s, so I don't have much to go on.

More info:
Subsonic 6 standalone version running on FreeBSD 10.1
screen shot of play button when it can't play song (it just spins and spins)

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I get the same thing. There appears to be lots of bugs in the new version.

Glad I'm not the only one, I do like the clean look of the webUI in 6 but I could live without if need be and go back to 5.2. I would prefer to run an open source version anyway. widgeteye did you start with subsonic 6 or did you upgrade from an older version before having this problem?

I upgraded from an earlier version. I've been using subsonic for several years now and this is the first version that has really given me problems. Seems to be really buggy.
I can hit "play all" on an album and it will play the first song and quit. Happens every time. BUMMER
I went back to version 5.3 and now everything is copacetic.

I had the same issue on Debian 8 when trying to play flac but I solved it by replacing "/var/subsonic/transcode/ffmeg" with the system binary.

To install ffmeg:

Add the following to the bottom of /etc/apt/sources.list:

Code: Select all
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org jessie main non-free
deb-src http://www.deb-multimedia.org jessie main non-free

Then enter the following to the terminal:

Code: Select all
apt-get update
apt-get install deb-multimedia-keyring
apt-get update
apt-get install ffmpeg

Replacing Subsonic's ffmeg with system:

Code: Select all
mv /var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg /var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg.bak
cp /usr/bin/ffmpeg /var/subsonic/transcode/
chmod 755 /var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg

I'm confused by your post “I had the same issue” I never said I was having trouble with flac files and I also posted that I was using the standalone version which uses the systems ffmpeg by default. Than you go on to provide troubleshooting steps for an OS I'm not even running.

Thanks for trying. Does anyone else have any helpful suggestions? If not it's back to version 5 for me, I can live with the 1990's webUI that can play all my songs vs a pretty webUI with some songs not working.
