Stream MP3 320 to mobile devices & FLAC to home computers

Hello all. Is there a way to stream MP3 320 to my cell phone while still streaming FLAC to my home computers over wifi?

I don't transcode myself, so until someone more experienced in setting up and using transcoding chimes in: transcoding works on a per-player basis, so what you want to do should be possible. Connect a mobile device and when a player is generated, edit the settings for that player to include a transcode chain..I believe some testing and refining will be needed.

I got this to work.

1) you need to setup three transcoders total: one that does the default (i.e. convert everything to mp3), one that does the default with flac removed, and I chose to set up a third that converts flac to wav. Just to be clear - the first one is the default transcoder that is setup when you install the SubSonic server on your home PC. The second is the same with FLAC removed. The third I just figured out today, and is setup as follows:

convert from: flac
convert to: wav
step 1: ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -f wav -

2) Create a new User, and point your externally accessible subsonic IP (that you have setup on iSub) to login using this User's credentials.
Note that for this step I'm assuming you use iSub. It is the best app I've found - at least for playing music on iPhone or Android

3) under Settings > Players give your new User's Player a bit rate limit of 320kpbs, and force it to only use the default transcoder. In my example I called it "mp3 (w/ flac)":

4) For the other Players force them to use the other two that you added in step 1 (they might be called MP3 (w/o FLAC) and FLAC to WAV)

5) For your home WiFi account access on iSub, use the original User. My two are, out of the box, called isub [Admin] and isub-Jukebox [Admin], therefore on my iSub app I kept my LAN accessible server login using the admin account.
