DLNA/UPNP problems music files appear video files don't

When using the Subsonic app on android everything seems to work fine. When using VLC for android, in the local networks subsection, directories and music files appear, video files inside the directories do not. Also when using the "Localcast" app for android, the Subsonic server appears, but when selected the message "failure retrieving items" is displayed. Previously everything seemed to work in VLC. All directories have the same privileges recursively. I am using Ubuntu 16.04, any ideas of what may be broken and how to fix it would be helpful.

Temporary fix: Using "Bubble UPNP Server" I have set up a network proxy for Subsonic. Now I can use VLC to play the files from the Subsonic network proxy setup, but still the direct Subsonic link on the Local UPNP/DLNA network won't allow viewing or access to Video files.

P.S. I still need to find a way to use Subsonic with the "Localcast" app under UPNP/DLNA interface.
