Wanted to bump this.. The way subsonic handles podcasts is LITERALLY my only problem with it. Like OP said if in-lining user credentials into a HTTPS URL, an error is produced. This used to work at least with non-https feeds (for the love of god make sure the password is a one-off and there is nothing you need secured on that site), but I can't verify that now.
We really really need a way to add user credentials for protected podcasts! I have been struggling with this since I started using subsonic many years ago!
