I have been using Subsonic for a couple of years. One issue that is about to be a deal breaker is the need to rescan the media folder whenever there is a disconnect between the computer hosting the server and the networked drive on which the media is stored. Every once in a while didn't bother me, but, for an unrelated reason I have been having, the rescanning has become a major PITA. I am wondering if there is something I am doing wrong or some setting I might be missing.
Mac OS X 10.11.6
Subsonic 6.1.1
2.5 GHz i5 Mac mini (Late 2012)
16 GB RAM
Media folder is 1.1 TB.
Media is stored on an external hard drive connected (USB 3) to an AirportExtreme.
The need to rescan when the networked volume has existed since the beginning of my using Subsonic (i.e. under previous versions of both the operating system and and Subsonic).
Above I say "deal breaker" because I have found a much more amenable solution - ServeToMe. Drive remounts? No problem. Player (StreamToMe) reconnects right away and all media is available. Subsonic takes 20-30 minutes to rescan. (I am unsure as I've never waited around to see exactly how long.) I prefer the Subsonic Mac player, play:Sub to the system I have recently found.
At this point I am not so much concerned about the network issue. I am wishing the rescanning was more expeditious and wonder if there's something I am missing.
Please tell me I'm missing something! Thanks for any consideration.
