Subsonic/Dsub Transcoding

Postby Willzter » Tue May 29, 2018 11:29 pm

Hi there,

Appreciate any assistance on the following that members may be able to offer.

I'm running Subsonic on a WIn PC to serve music. I use DSub on Android to send music to a Chromecast on the stereo via the house WiFi.

It works great, but I have no idea if it's transcoding the music or not.

The Subsonic server transcoding screen (which is about as unintuitive as it could get) seems to be set to MP3 transcoding and can't be changed(?). DSub says it sends the original file format if it has the bandwidth (which it should).

I'd like to send the files in their original format (FLAC) but I've no idea whether I can do this or even if it's possible.

Thanks in anticipation,

Willzter

On your Subsonic server go to Settings >> Transcoding > unmark "Enable this transcoding for all existing and new players."
This should force Subsonic to stream your flac-files in full bitrate.
