Media with Hebrew filenames is missing from list

Hi,

New user of subsonic. Installed version 3.8 (build 1130) as a standalone install on Ubuntu 8.10 Server (jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_16, Linux).

All seem to work except I cannot see media with filenames in Hebrew at the left panel artist list. I think they are all supposed to be under # because I haven't entered individual characters yet but they are just missing as if they are not existing at all.

I've seen in the forum other issues with non-latin characters but nothing that relates to this. I also don't understand how do I force a re-index of the artist list (not the search index) so I could try stuff and check if it helped.
