Transcoding failed w/ upgrade to ver 3.8

Postby shelinej » Mon Nov 16, 2009 3:05 pm

I just upgraded to subsonic 3.8 from subsonic 3.6 and now cannot play m4a files (possibly others). I run ubuntu server 9.10, tomcat6, java6 and only had LAME linked into the /var/subsonic/transcode directory. After the upgrade to ver3.8 I installed and linked (then copied) lame, faad, flac, and ffmpeg, tried a few of the transcode settings I came across in the forum and nothing seems to resolve this issue. This guy (http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2261) had a similar problem but his thread got missed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks folks,

Solved

Reverted to subsonic 3.6 with no luck.

Installed LAME 3.98.2 and FAAD2-2.7 from binary to the /usr directory, copied them to /var/subsonic/transcode/ and swapped the byte order (removed -x) in the second conversion step for m4a and aac to mp3 convertion. All better. I'll try ver3.8 again and report back.

transcode settings
m4a > mp3: faad -w %w
: lame -b %b - -

aac > mp3: faad -w %w
: lame -b %b - -
