In my opinion Subsonic is only reading the files and is using a database for writing links to the music. if you are missing your Music I don't think that is a Subsonic fault ....

If you did a NEW install then you will need to point the new installation at the files....

You can't browse from Subsonic to homes/subsonic/music?
Try if you can from a terminal screen:
sudo cd /homes/subsonic/music
ls -l
If you're music is there, the problem is the user under which subsonic is running or your permissions are really bad. Must be at least 444 (read for everyone)
If the music is not there, I'm really sorry for you. I hope you have a backup.
I agree with 3Dscrewer, it wasn't subsonic that made your music disappear.
You can try to look for the music, in case of an accidental rename....
find / -name *.flac (or mp3 or ogg or whatever)

Good luck!
