Artwork problems

Postby dazbobaby » Thu Sep 30, 2021 1:29 pm

I can't add/remove or change the art work for a certain folder. None of the buttons are there to made adjustments.
I can only assume it's a bug in large files, as I can edit artwork for all other folders and tracks.

Not only can I not edit the artwork for this folder, Subsonic won't read the embedded artwork, which is there.

I would look at the differences between folders you can edit and folders you can't maybe wear folders that have an image inside of them they use that for the artwork and you can't edit it or something.,.. I ended up switching to Plex for music.. and I'm hearing songs that I've never even heard of before because of the way random and shuffle work with subsonic...

one thing i've found (someone tried to tell me i was wrong, but i've confirmed it for myself) is that the algorithm to decide the cover photo by filename has priorities that can bury a more recent file. one of those is the file format. .jpg has priority over .png, so if there's a 'cover.jpg' and 'cover.png', one of those will always be used even if the other file is newer.

Code: Select all
    private static final String DEFAULT_COVER_ART_FILE_TYPES = "cover.jpg cover.png cover.gif folder.jpg jpg jpeg gif png";

So there we are - go to the folder in question on explorer/finder and remove the cover.jpg file and the png file will then be what subsonic will use on the next scan.

Thanks, but still no luck, I think it goes beyond priorities and into bugs.
The MP3's all have embedded artwork, SS doesn't even look at it, or ignores it completely.
There are 4 images, cover.jpg, cover.png, folder.jpg and folder.png. Again, it seems to ignore these as well.
But it's only this folder. All the tracks are 60 minutes long, all 120MB+ and I have no idea now.

Not only that, but I can't add or edit the cover art in subsonic.

the other option to cleaning up badly cached data is to move the files around. rename the folder that mp3 files are in to something else. scan, and when done hit 'Clean-up Database'. Then rename the folder back to what it was before and repeat scan and clean-up.

it is annoying in that playlists that have those files referenced will lose them, but it has been the only way i know of to really clean things when it comes to cached mistakes.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I've already tried this too.
