Hello:

I having issues setting up SubSonic with my Yamaha WXC50 Musiccast player. The player works fine on my local network and is able to play music using my PLEX server in DLNA mode. With the Musiccast app and trying to play from SubSonic it will not play. It shows all of the albums, artwork, etc. but when I am trying to play it says, "Unable to play." Any ideas on what I might have configured wrong? I know the media player device (Yamaha) works, network is good, media is good, it is a setting in SubSonic. Just installed SubSonic (new to me) and registered for the premium version and paid. I am wondering if it is a permissions (login required) setting? I have one user setup as Guest, no password, etc.

Just to bump this thread up - did you manage to resolve this issue at all?

I've been using Emby and Plex for media servers for years without any issues, and installed subsonic (W10 install) and enabled subsonic DLNA. my devices can all see the server, albums and files, but all return "unable to play" - two such examples are a Yamaha RX-A1070 in music server mode, and a Marantz NA6005 network streamer - using the marantz app or direct on the front panel.

Is there a bug in the DLNA server or something specific I need to do? i've checked the logs, but apart from it creating new players and showing upnp activity, nothing is shouting a problem

I found DLNA to work on my subsonic devices (opening on VLC, old WD TV boxes, and my Samsung smart TV). However, it is very slow to initially start up.

It seems that the server is more or less loading and caching most of your library metadata on the download to the DLNA player. That can take a lot of time. Once loaded, things seem to work (but the feature set is way below what a good app can do, nevermind the official UI), but that load can just take a long time where it seems like nothing much is happening.

Don't see any reply to users bumping this thread but have you checked your serial key? It may not be registered any longer.
