Mac M1 Compatibility + Help with new server purchase

Postby Nat11 » Tue Jul 12, 2022 12:18 am

Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I'm new to Subsonic! I am looking to upgrade an old 2010 Mac Pro 5.1 used as a Subsonic at my work for several years. There is currently only about 2TB of video/audio files on the HDD.

I am looking at purchasing a new Mac Mini M1 (or Mac Studio) along with a NAS or external drive to upgrade this system, but I am not sure if this is the best approach. Could someone point me in the right direction to start a new server from scratch?

Many thanks in advance!

If you have the option for a NAS, that would be a good investment as you get not only redundant file storage, but (if you go with a NAS like Synology) you can run Subsonic as an installed package on the device itself. http://www.subsonic.org/pages/download.jsp
