I'm experiencing really show choppy audio playback on using my home subsonic from work. I usually have to start a song, let it buffer for 4 or 5 minutes before its ready for a smooth play through. What's strange is that sometimes it plays through fine without any issues.
I got multiple things going on so I'm trying to pin down the problem:
1) I am connecting to home Subsonic from work via SSH tunneling, I THINK this limits bandwidth somewhat but I can't get it to work any other way, even with leaving 8081 open on my router.
2) My ISP might be the issue, I'm with TWC in North Carolina and even though I have the fastest RoadRunner available I think uploading bandwidth is 0.45 Mbps or so...can anyone tell me if that's enough to stream 128 kbps or higher music smoothly?
3) Transcoding...I set the transcoder to 112 kbps max but I'm not sure if its actually transcodes at that lower bitrate or not...there doesn't seem to be a way to tell. It does seem to play a bit better on lower bitrates though so I do think its working. I plan on testing this more in the future.
Please let me know what you thinks the problem.
