Registered, but could not connect to it. (HttpHostConnectEx-

Postby Azagthoth » Fri Nov 16, 2012 5:06 am

Now I've had this problem before but was able to get it fixed awhile back. I've looked up at the other forum posts and each of the topics had no solution. Nothing has changed and now I can't connect to Subsonic on my phone, and whenever registering the name of my server in my settings, I get the "registered, but could not connect to it. (HttpHostConnectException)" error, and not able to connect to it through my phone. Currently under the Subsonic Control Panel settings, I have the port number as 8080 and enabled https on port 4040. Not sure if this would have anything to do with it but might as well put that in there. No firewalls are open, nothing.

I have no idea if it had anything to do with my DNS, I've been using the openDNS 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220

[*]All my ports are open (ranging from 8080, 8081, and tried 4040)
[*]Currently using Subsonic version 4.7 (3106)
[*]jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_27, Windows 7
[*]Windows 7 64
And I'd rather upload the attachment since the last ten lines are just trying to mess around with the ports in the agent.

If there's anymore information you need I'll do my best to give it out..

Verify that the inbound port mappings on your Internet Router are pointing those ports into the correct internal IP address.

First guess is that your Subsonic PC has a different internal IP address now than it did when you set it up initially.

My router shows that they're porting to my ip that I had set up to: 192.168.1.114

I'm checking my IPv4 and the IP address is now obtaining the address automatically instead of entering it manually? However, when adding ip address, subnet mask and default gateway - I get an IP conflict? This is a new problem for me. I do have two other devices that are connected to my router - one wireless and one wired. Both of which are using their own IP I had set for them, not using the .114 I had set on my own device. Double checked their IPv4 to see if I accidentally entered the same address.

I don't know what's causing this IP conflict - but I'm pretty sure that this might be the core of the problem.

Sure sounds like it.

Do you have two network cards? One wired and one wireless?

What happens if you leave it as dynamically assigned and then open a command prompt and try to ping 192.168.1.114. Does it answer?

Does your router have an "attached devices" screen? You should be able to see what devices are attached... if so, post the MAC address that is associated with 192.168.1.114 and I can look up the manufacturer at least...

I'm using my onboard for my ethernet. My brothers PS3 is wired to the router and my other PC is on wireless.
I don't know if my router has an attached device, don't know how to check.
the MAC address is 00-04-4B-04-04-7C

That is your mother board's mac address.

Try this:

  • Set your subsonic server to get an address dynamicly if it is not already.
  • Open a command prompt
  • type "ping 192.168.1.114" and hit enter.
  • If you get a response, type "arp -a" and hit enter.
  • post the mac address that is next to 192.168.1.114 in the list.

By getting the address dynamically through Subsonic, I just delete the port number under settings right?

That mac address is an HTC device...

You need to set your subsonic server to a fixed ip address and change the incoming port mapping to point to that new address.

Yeah, I use to have an HTC device before upgrading to Bionic.

And I don't know how to set it to a fixed ip address unless you mean in Subsonic to register an "easier to use address". Which that I already have and still gives me that error.

I feel like I'm getting extremely close to having this fixed, just don't know how to do that step

So either assign that machine a static IP using your router (best) or assign the machine a static IP using Windows (OK).

Google works for both of them.

I found this for the router:

Alright, well I'm not that tech savy unless I'm just making this more confusing for myself - lol. But, I don't know how to choose a correct static IP number unless I can just go all willy nilly with the numbers? lol.

You need the MAC (hardware) address of your server. Please google how to do that. Then use your router to assign it the static IP of 192.168.1.100. Then you can set port forwarding to use that IP for Subsonic.
