Slow speed

Hello,

I tried several things to solve my problem of download speed.

Problem is that it gives a maximum of 200kB/s download per thread on
port 80, when i change the subsonic settings to https the speed increases to almost 1mB/s per thread, if i download 8 things at once he will get to my internet speed as it is.

I have a 60mBit connection up and down.

When i run www.speedtest.net it confirms that speed even to 82mbit upload.

Other problem is also that i cannot stream videos without it stops playing and than continues after 1 sec.

Who can help me.

Oh before i forget, my internal network is as speedy as hell.

The problem is most likely that the server CPU is not keeping up with the transcoding. Search for the many posts I've made on how to address this issue.

my hardware config is 1x amd X2-250 with 4gb ram, is that enough or should i upgrade ? All files are on the same computer. I understand that it can be a cpu problem when you stream video but that doesnt explain the low download speer per thread

No, your hardware is reasonable. You should get good results. flv video does not need to be transcoded. What happens when you try to view an flv?

If you test a file that doesn't get transcoded, you eliinate that as a factor, which should help you narrow down what's going on. Also. post, review you logs to see if anything stands out. Have you made any entries/modifications in Settings/Entries to limit the download speed?

a flv file works good but a 720p mkv also works good. It goes really bad when i try to play 1080

But we lose a little focus here.

when i run in https modus i get a download speed of 1MB a sec
when i run in http modus it drops to 100Kb/s
when i download trough ftp i will get 6MB a sec

i think there lies our problem

I did not change any setting at all. I also upgrade to the new beta version of the server but that didnt help.

What ports are you using?

NEVER use 80 or 443 for Subsonic. Isp's often monitor or restrict use of those ports, not to mention that WHS uses the same ports for it's remote access web page. Change to ports 808X and 45X for Subsonic to see if that clears things up for you.

Ok i tried various other ports but no joy.

A friend of mine is an Network analist and he finds it strange i get higher speed when running in https modus

The only thing that I can think of would be to check for other software that may be restricting bandwidth. Do you use any Firewall or antivirus/malware software that may be causing problems? i remember seeing problems with other users that were running Comodo and one that had a problem with F3protect. If everything is running fine inside the network, it's most likely the router or the gateway device from your ISP thet is causing problems. Please post back here if you find the answer.

Has to be my ISP i tried it on Ubuntu/windows7/windowsxp/whs2003 also on different kinda hardware and 3 different routers. The only thing that keeps the same is the ISP. I also tried 2 different locations with 2 different ISP but on the same fiber network. All with the same errors. The strangest thing is that the speed is the same per thread in all the setups

But how to explain this to an ISP

Especially one that probably says in its user agreement that you're not supposed to be hosting a server with a residential account. That sucks. I can't think of anything else that would cause your problems.
