Side note/quick bug report: Jukebox player stops after every track - webplayer plays playlists as usual.

Hmm...

Postby flacflac » Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:26 pm

Sindre, sorry for making this a one-man-thread, but: my command to transcode to FLAC is

Code: Select all
flac -c -s -d %s

Which works alright for the first track, but the next track in line is not being transcoded. When using the MP3 transcode the current build works perfectly, but I seem to be missing some dashes "-" or something like that for it to loop the next track when just doing flac>wav.

Any idea?

Thank you. :)

I don't think there's anything wrong with the transcoding, but rather a bug in the JLayer (or some audio codec).

I've seen similar behavious on a few mp3 tracks I have.

I think programmatically restarting the JLayer player for each song will solve the problem. It's somewhat intricate, but I hope to address that in the next release. I'll let you know when/if it's implemented so you can test it.

Thanks,
Sindre

Thanks for the info - it would be great if you could implement a restart after each track... will be impatiently checking the SVNs.... . :)

Hi Sindre,

I saw that you've moved towards 3.9 beta 1 - are we still on track for a restart for every track? :)

Thank you,

Hi ff,

I actually spent quite a lot of time trying to implement that, but I couldn't make it work reliably. It was possibly a multi-threading issue in the 3rd party JLayer code, or (more likely) something I did wrong.

I haven't completely given up on it, but it won't happen in 3.9 either, I'm afraid. Sorry about that...

Hi Sindre,

Thanks for the reply, although this ain't good news. :?

Are you able to jukebox two or more nontranscoded FLAC files in a row somehow? I haven't performed an upgrade in a bit as I was waiting for this feature, but perhaps something changed in the meantime that took care of this issue. If you have the most recent .WAR file I'd be happy to give it a go, but I can't compile it myself right now.

Thank you,

Sigh, that's really a non-functional jukebox then... sad

Where would one look for the source files for this feature? Perhaps there is a way to watch for the log entry, and if x seconds +y seconds elapsed (the length of the previously started track plus a little buffer) no new play entry shows up, the next track on the list gets kickstarted. This feature could be toggled on and off with a button next to the player.

Android app = Fricken SWEET (especially bluetoothed in the truck)
Streaming from my HTPC to work = YAY!
Broken Jukebox = Sad me!

I am really looking forward to that bug being fixed (hopefully by summer??) so when Im sitting on the deck I can change the music playing from my laptop without going inside or without needing to remote into the box thats playing.

Thanks for an awesome product! I will either be donating after a little more of the trial or if the jukebox gets fixed before my trial is up. ;)

Yeah DJ Ryan, the broken jukebox is really a big hangup - I know that Sindre tried to fix it, but it seems like a bigger problem than expected. :/ It would be great to hear how he thinks about this now - perhaps one of the workarounds I once proposed could be implemented.
