Same problem, 10.6.5, Intel iMac

I'm now using 4.0.1 after downgrading from a non-functional 4.2. I got the same Java error with 4.2 and wouldn't fully launch. The Java version on my machine is 1.6.0_22.

I am thinking that it has nothing to do with Java specifically but I am also not having a problem on my MacPro running 4.2 or 4.0.1 with Java build 1.6.0_22-b04-307-10M3261 and 10.6.5. Have you tried the standalone version of 4.2 to see if it works for you?
