4.7 Playlist Question from a 4.6 user

I typically create Playlists within Winamp and then manage them within Notepad++ which I find to be much easier way of doing this task no matter the scope. Since 4.6 simply looks at a directory for the Playlist files, the changes are "live" of course as soon as I hit Save. If I have a bigger job to do, I will load the Playlist back into Winamp to use its GUI for visual modifications which also allows me to make use of Windows Explorer for quick navigation. I installed the first Beta of 4.7 and noticed that Subsonic no longer makes use of a defined directory for Playlists which was enough to make me switch back to 4.6. I was just curious to know if this function has had anymore improvement since the first beta, and if we are still forced to import Playlists into the DB? If we are, is there any easy way of getting to the raw information to make edits to the data of the Playlist that anyone knows of? I have some pretty big playlists specifically an "Oldies" one which contains thousands of songs that I update frequently which I would hate to have to edit within Subsonic since the app can barely open the Playlist to play it as it is.

Thanks in advance for any insight provided.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one!

I too am having this issue. I used to edit the playlists in a text editor without having to go to Subsonic, and then streamed the songs straight from my phone.

Now I have to delete the playlist in Subsonic and import it again to get the changes.

This sucks. I want the old behavior back.

Going back to 4.6

It's awesome to see someone else who shares the same method! We may very well be in the minority on this topic though. :?

Well, I'm still sticking to 4.6 in view of all the problems there are with 4.7.
However I'm glad you discovered this flaw in the new version, because I too want to be able to create and edit playlists outside of Subsonic.
And I think you guys are right when you say that playlist take a long time to be loaded. I don't know if the new system will improve on loadingspeed but I doubt it.

I'm going back to 4.6 because of this.
