All of the folders disappeared

Postby joecrimm » Sat Aug 18, 2012 5:37 pm

Hello all,

I woke up this morning and plugged in my external hard drive which I use for all of my SubSonic music and nothing is being displayed on Subsonic or the app. I tried to unplug it and re-pluig it in which did not work, I also re-installed the latest version of subsonic which did not work. In my computer you can see the harddrive and all of the files but on localhost nothing is being pulled up.

Anyone having the same issue or know a solution?

Thanks,
Joe

Check the path to the usb drive - your OS may have assigned the drive a different drive letter.

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

the drive is mapped as H on both SubSonic and my PC...I tried a different folder from my desktop which appeared, but the Harddrive just doesn't want to pop up, frustrating.

I also just tried to add folders from a different external harddrive and nothing worked. I have a feeling this is all happening because of the external drives. Anyone have any ideas, I am pretty lost for an answer.

Thank you!

Mapped drives will not work with Subsonic. You have to use either a local drive or a network share.

If you use a network share then you must also edit the Subsonic service account with the correct logon account that has permission to access the share.

Sometimes there are Java problems or database issues that cause this kind of error. Some of the more technical guys might be able to figure it all out and tell you what to do to fix it, but if I was in your situation, I'd just uninstall Java and Subsonic through control panel - programs and features, delete C:\Subsonic, then install the latest version of Java then reinstall Subsonic.

It may sound like a big deal, but it'll probably be a lot faster than troubleshooting and trying all kinds of fixes that may or may not work.

The whole process only takes about 10 mins if you have a reasonable internet connection.

A NullPointerException indicates a fault by the programmer, not a Java error. Some kind of situation occurs (probably something rare about your music collection, environment etc) that Sindre didn't expect and doesn't handle gracefully. Send him this log and he should be able to fix it.

Deleting C:/Subsonic will remove all your preferences and user accounts so be careful if you run that road.
