Problem Description:

STATUS: innerspaceboy.subsonic.org is registered but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

I have used Subsonic for 2 joyful years on my Windows 7 partition to access my home library on my Droid X. Yesterday, halfway into a playlist, it stopped downloading and since then nothing I do makes it download anymore.

NOTE that I could still view my entire library on my Droid X, and when I tested the connection under the SETTINGS menu, connection instantly reads "OK."

Troubleshooting Steps:

1) Freed space on my micro SD.
2) Ended Subsonic task and restarted
3) Cleared application cache
4) Stopped and restarted Subsonic tray icon on my PC
5) Uninstalled the app and reinstalled
6) Factory reset my phone
7) Still no luck, so I ventured over to my Ubuntu 11.10 partition and installed Subsonic
8 ) Successfully port forwarded 4040 but easy-to-remember address status fails and reports -

STATUS: innerspaceboy.subsonic.org is registered but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

Accessed my router and modified the existing Port Forward exception from Subsonic - 80 to Subsonic - 80, 4040.

9) While using the Ubuntu version of Subsonic my Droid X can no longer see my library and times out if I try to connect to innerspaceboy.subsonic.org.

Playback Application and version: Subsonic mobile 3.3

Subsonic Version: 4.6 (build 2585)

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_24, Linux (41.6 MB / 47.0 MB)

Hardware Platform: Ran fine until yesterday under Windows 7. If I can successfully get it running under Ubuntu 11.10 I'll finally be free to sever my ties from Microsoft! Please help me make this dream a reality!

Java Memory Limit: Not sure where to find this in Ubuntu, sorry.

Output from ffmpeg -i: The program 'ffmpeg' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install ffmpeg

I'm not too sure where you're at with this, but your address is not responding, so it's not your phone; the server isn't responding. i don't use Linux so I can't help you there, but if you want to bring a Windows install back up I'll be glad to help.

I use the WAR version on my Windows servers and it runs fine.

Otherwise you'll have to wait for one of the Linux guys to give you a hand.

From reading the other thread you started, it sounds like it's definitely your server that's not responding, You need to get that up and verified before worrying about the phone.

All right, back to the Windows partition where it originally stopped working mid-stream.

Noticed that I could not connect to the Subsonic login page from Firefox due to NoScript. Disabled NoScript and it connected fine. Took a look at the About page and found the following lines:

Noticed that Windows is using Port 80 while Ubuntu was forwarding to 4040. 80 had always worked fine in the past up until this week. The truncated long file paths were always listed as well so I don't think they're the issue.

I do have multiple security softwares running, one of which may have updated and is now blocking subsonic.

I have Peerblock, Immunet 3.0 and AVG Free as running processes and manually run Malwarebytes AntiMalware once a week. Immunet is painfully difficult to disable so I tried restarting in safe mode with networking but Subsonic doesn't seem to be able to operate in that environment.

Hoping now that I'm back to the Windows side someone will be able to help me?

Never use port 80 or 443. Yes it can be done. Nore often than not it just causes unnecessary problems from a variety of sources. I have multipl servers/instances of SS for testing various hardware and configuration variables. i use a pretty simple scheme to keep it easy to remember what I'm doing. I usually place my servers into high addresses to minimize the possibility of DHCP conflict.

eg.
192.168.1.240 uses 4040 and 440
192.168.1.241 uses 4041 and 441
192.168.1.242 uses 4042 and 442
SKIP 243 to avoid using 443
192.168.1.244 uses 4044 and 444

Using a schene like this makes life a lot easier when you have to edit the port forwarding rules.

You can use any setup you like but experience with hundreds of other users has taught me that just avoiding 80/443 makes everyones life much easier.

After experiencing difficulties with sound today both in Ubuntu and Windows (my PC appears to be locked in surround sound mode and all vocals are muted as I only have stereo sound) I reinstalled Windows only to find that the problem persisted.

I've just reinstalled Subsonic. It retained my username, password, and that it had been registered, but I cannot specify my audio folder. I read the Getting Started Guide and clicked on Settings but my screen looks nothing like the interface I remembered. The boxes where you enter media folders are missing. The Settings screen only shows PERSONAL, PASSWORD, PLAYERS, and SHARED MEDIA.

Anyone know what's happening?

NOTE As I've reinstalled my OS and Subsonic and this is a new issue all together I have submitted a new help request post with more relevant information. Please see my new post instead. Thank you.
