Hello All,
I recently started using subsonic and it is awesome. Except some of my songs (flacs) would not start playing unless I skip forward a bit. I have seen this around the forum and have tried suggestions as per some of the posts that say the issue was resolved for them.

and I have even tried removing the Metadata entry for embeded cover art as some have suggested. Any help would be appreciated because I really like subsonic and my server is so much more complete with subsonic.

Cheers,
Ali

What platform are you running SS on?

If you can upload a problem file somewhere (suggest a small one if possible) and post a link some of our ffmpeg gurus could have a look .
Also what format are the flac files in? as some versions of ffmpeg seem to have a problem with 24 bit files.

So Ive had a similar issue with an mp3, more specifically the Adam Carolla podcast. What I found after playing around a bit was that something weird was happening in the headers, at least thats the best I can figure out, which causes it to hang. What I did in my case was use an mp3 header repair tool to essentially wipeout and then then recreate the audio headers of the file, which works. So I wouldnt be surpised if there's a messed up bit in the audio header that is causing this. You should be able to find a flac file tool to recreate those headers and see if it resolves the problem with the file.

For mine, since it was a daily podcast, I simply have a cronjob setup that automatically repairs the headers .
