Why would my play buttons disappear, from next to all my videos in chrome?(left site panel)
Is it something I did?

Yup. You turned on Party Mode for your account.

Turn it off in your user settings.

Party mode removes the play buttons so that no one can accidentally click on and replace a well crafted playlist with a single entry.
