Hi. I have a netgear wndr3700 router with a 2tb harddrive connected to it with all my music on it.
Subsonic can find it at all. It comes up on my computer as \\READYSHARE on my network but it isnt actually a computer is is the router if you get me lol.

Ive searched and found someone that said about changine logon permissions an that. Tried that and never worked.
Is it to do with the router not actually being a computer and i can put in the pc name and password to give subsonic permission.

Hope someone can help.

You have to give permission to the user a/c that SS is running under or change it to an account with permissions to access network shares.

In order for Subsonic to access the share it has to use the credentials of a user account that can access the share. For instance if you log onto your account on your PC and you can access the share, then just give the Subsonic service your logon credentials.

I've gor the same router, but I've never used the Readyshare feature so I don't know how it controls access. If there is a way to add permissions for a user you could create an account specifically for SS, (SSUSER) assign a password and then use those credentials for the Subsonic service.

Ive given subsonic permission for the cumputer i have subsonic on.
The problem i think is, is that the network looks like readyshare is a computer.
There is no username or password for readyshare to give subsonic permission.

Creating a different account for subsonic. How would that get round the ready share having no credentials?

In order to access the router admin screen you probably need to enter a username/password. Try using that for the Subsonic service logon.

I get an error when i go to check names for \\READYSHARE. It say. An object user or built in security principal with the following name cannot be found "READYSHARE" check the selected object types and locations for accuracy and ensure that have typed the object name correctly or remove this object from the selection.

So i cant even get to type in a password

Is this an error coming from the router admin screen or is this a Windows error?

The router works perfect streamin from one computer to the other round the house. Its just when i try to add folders to subsonic.

Did you try giving Subsonic the logon required to access the admin pages to the router?

How do i do that. As i logon to the control panel in my browser? Would i have go create a new user in subsonic for that?

No. Whatever the username and password you use to access the router is what you give to the Subsonic service for logon credentials as described at Monroeworld guide.

I'm testing the same setup now and appear to be having the same issues.

Dont know how all my other computers can see it but subsonic cant. There was a thread about this i found but the thread just seemed to of died with no solution.

I did it!!!! Not quite sure how though tbh. Lol

I mapped the folder called usbstorage on readyshare.

The logon details never worked i dont think. I changed them to admin admin on the router but was still gettin errors.

Then went to subsonic and typed in \\READYSHARE\USB_Storage/Z: (or whatever drive revision you chose when you mapped it)

Im not having much luck portforwarding this router.
Port 80 is fine but any other port i try to put in doesnt work.

Is it because the wndr3700 is comnected to an adsl router to give it internet?
Ive honestly no idea what im doing searched loads as well and found nothing usefull.
