Streaming with Motorola Q and Windows Media Player 10 Mobile

Hello,

I have really enjoyed Subsonic so far. It works great for me on any normal PC connected to the Internet. However, the real reason I installed it was to stream music to my Motorola Q smartphone.

If I understand the directions correctly, it appears that there are two ways I could do this. The first would be to type in the URL which would be like:

http://www.mydomain.com:8180/subsonic/wap

My phone appears to take me to my site as I can browse through the music library. However, I can't seem to get a song to actually begin playing.

The other option appears to be streaming from Media Player. I have succeeded in doing this once on my PC (haven't been able to do it since) but I have not been able to do it on my phone. The URL I have been using is:

http://www.mydomain.com:8180/subsonic/stream?player=Player1&suffix=.mp3

However, on my phone, Windows Media Player prompts an error message saying:

Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried the "Play on phone" option in the wap interface?

New problem

Last night, I upgrade my Subsonic to the newest release. I believe it was 3.3. As I understand from another post here in the forums, the "Play on phone" option was added during the beta.

This morning, my normal web interface for Subsonic is working fine. But when I try to browse to the WAP address, I get a 404 error.

This was working fine last night before I upgraded.

Thanks.

Hm, that's weird. Have you tried deleting TOMCAT_HOME/work as per the instructions in http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/install.html ?

I deleted all the files in the work directory and tried it again. I still get a 404 error for the WAP URL.

Here is the results of the subsonic.log:

Do you get 404 also when browsing to a specific wap page, such as
http://localhost/subsonic/wap/playlist.view

OK, I do not get a 404 error when I browse to a specific page such as "playlist.view" under the WAP interface. I only get the 404 when I end the URL with "/WAP".

I don't recall it doing this before I upgraded to the latest Subsonic version. I guess I would like to fix this problem eventually, but it wasn't the reason I posted to this forum.

I don't see the "Play on Phone" option that you are referring to. Can you describe the work flow I need to follow? Do I need to set up a playlist first through a PC? Can I set up a playlist on the phone? How do I go about this?

Lastly, I would still really like to see Subsonic work by streaming from my Windows Media Player mobile. Any suggestions on how to get that going would be appreciated as well. I think some of the same questions apply. Do I need to create a playlist first? Do I need a unique player? How does Subsonic determine the player when my IP address is changing?

Thanks.

Good player for windows mobile 5 / 6 / 2003 / PocketPC

J have tested and subsonic (full, no wap) is working as good as it gets on my windows mobile device with the PocketMusic program installed.
Enjoy: http://www.pocketmind.com/

Now, the only thing I miss is an UIQ3 client for my P1i. Anyone?

All thanks to Sindre who made this happen.
