Unable to add new tracks

Hello,

I recently installed Subsonic 4.7 on my Mac and everything seemed to be working fine. But now I am unable to add new tracks to the music library. I have asked it to scan the media library, gone through /Library/Application Support/Subsonic/subsonic.log to look for errors etc., but I can't seem to find any error. Are there any other ways for me to debug the problem?

Best regards,
Mads

Are there really noone here who can help me with my Subsonic problem? I really like Subsonic and want to buy (donate to) it, but I need to know that it will in fact work for me before paying for it ;-)

And so far it doesn't work since I am unable to add new tracks - but perhaps I am "holding it wrong" http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/24/apple-responds-over-iphone-4-reception-issues-youre-holding-th/ :-)

Best regards,
Mads

There seems to be a bug in the Subsonic 4.7 scanner that causes this. The same issue has been discussed a couple of times, for example: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10397

After scanning check your SS log.
You should have something like
Code: Select all
[10/4/12 4:42:13 AM BST]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Scanned media library with ??????? entries.
[10/4/12 4:42:13 AM BST]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Marking non-present files.
[10/4/12 4:54:45 AM BST]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Marking non-present artists.
[10/4/12 4:55:23 AM BST]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Marking non-present albums.
[10/4/12 4:56:58 AM BST]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Completed media library scan.
[10/4/12 4:57:05 AM BST]   INFO   PlaylistService   Starting playlist import.

Do you get the completed media scan entry?
You could also delete the db directory and rescan in case the db has got corrupted/locked or whatever.

I suspect that it is something in a media file tag that SS does not like and is causing these issues
but due to the lack of verbose reporting in the log this could be a right b#&$*# to trouble-shoot.
I am running both 4.6 & 4.7 on the same server and my recently added file lists are identical but I do make sure all
my tags are correct and error free before placing in the library.
At the moment 4.7 is reporting 9,677 albums 113,794 songs
While 4.6 reports 9,393 albums 113,851 songs
So with 4.7 I get nearly 300 free albums

.. and 57 missing songs? I guess Sindre would be interested if you made a script to find out which they are, and summarized what they look like in the old subsonicXX.index file and in the new database.

I still think that Sindre should have a look at the media scanner I wrote, it's faster, does partial scanning (starting from a subdirectory), and seems more reliable. But I guess every programmer wants to write their own code.

I'm having this exact same problem, has anyone figured out a solution? Everything was working fine, I upgraded to 4.7 and nothing new is showing up after scanning. I didn't see anything in the logs and my XBMC machine can see the songs just fine, which means the tags are OK and the files are in the right place.

Help!

I think I got the "Completed media library scan" line, yes. I'll check later.

What do I loose by deleting the db? If no information is lost (that can not just be automatically rebuilt again I mean), this may be the way to do it right now, until some fix is introduced.

You'll loose your users and settings by deleting your db completely. See viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10338
