Shared Folders (WinXP)
I've been unable to persuade my Subsonic Server, running under WinXP Pro, to accept a shared folder.
The shared resource is a read/write Windows (Samba) share on another WinXP Pro system on my LAN.
I have tried every possible approach to specify the folder:
- Mapping the folder to a drive letter and specifying it by that letter [G:\]
- pointing to folders on the mapped drive individually [G:\Blues]
- Using the UNC share name [\\bozo\Tunes]
- Specifying IP address\share [\\10.1.2.3\Tunes]
Every attempt gets the same result: Folder not found
The share is fully functional (reads and writes) from the command line and from Windows Explorer. It requires no password. There are no connectivity problems, no typos in the Settings. Other folders on directly-connected drives work fine with the server. Other processes on the system address the share flawlessly. Multiple reboots, drive letter mapping changes, share re-configurations and server restarts were to no avail.
I'm running version 4.7 (build 3106), just updated from version 4.6. I tried all the same things with v4.6 with the same lack of result.
My knowledge and experience with Windows networking is extensive. If I'm doing something wrong here, I can't begin to imagine what it is.
