Unable to add folders to server [Resolved]

Fresh install, new user.

First go I was able to add folders and configure server. Went to add new folders and attempt to add a new server and do not see any option on the settings page that allows me to do this. Been up, down around and around, over and over. Getting started info screen capture image shows different options in settings than what I am seeing.

Not just Subsonic.. Nothing just "works" anymore. Frustrated at how much time I waste trouble shooting computer/electronic products these days. (rant over)

Options available to me in settings screen:

Settings
Personal | Password | Players | Shared media

It seems like your user account is not an administrator when you only see those options. Are you logged in as admin?

that was it. thanks.

But the whole admin log-in thing makes no sense to me. I get it as a temp setup log in. But once I change my log/pass why should I still be able to log in with a generic log/pass? And why would a generic log/pass have privileges my private log/pass does not?

When you first install Subsonic it has one user setup, Admin, and that account has a default password.

You then created a second username with its own password. You did not check off "User is administrator" when you created that account.

So you now have two accounts, Administrator and whatever you created. And because you did not change the administrator's password it is still the same as it was when you installed Subsonic.
