looks like Subsonic has been updated since these guides:
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/getting-started.jsp (1. Setting up music folders)
http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/ (Configure Folders)
were made, so maybe i am missing something.
first it doesnt let me add folder details until i click 'Scan media folders now', so i do. i add folder then click 'save' - nothing happens. when i click 'Scan media folders now' again it tells me "settings were saved" with a little green tick, and the folder info CLEARS. it still says "No media folders found. Please change the settings." at top of screen. what should i be doing?
only found out about this streaming thing yesterday and Subsonic seems like the one for me. ty for ur time/help!

Those guides are still relevant even with SS 4.7.
You need to give us more info - please read
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5506Knowing the format/address of your media folders might help.
Note SS will not work with mapped drives so use UNC addressing if on network

If the password has got corrupted the easiest way in your case is to re-install.
Delete c:\subsonic then re-install
The "E" drive is that a drive on your computer or is it a usb drive?

I am having the same problem. I used the file path D:\Roberttimlick\Videos. I did a re-install of my OS. Now every time

I scan for media folders (which last time would show a counting number, and say saving settings) Now it only says saving settings and it seems nothing happens. Am I missing some program that helped it scan like a framework or java? I have tried chrome, firefox, and IE.

I'd like to add that even though I know that Firefox has a loyal following, I've recently noticed that it seems to be having issues with not only Subsonic but I've seen compatibility problem reports in other settings as well. I've never been much of a firefox user, but never was opposed to it either. I do know that Chrome looks and works VERY well with Subsonic, usually only requiring an occasional browser cache cleanout every few months.
HTH
