m4b files do not show up in interface

I added m4b to the list of extensions in the general configuration and rescanned my collection. However, no m4b files shop up in the web or iSub interface. Is there anything else I need to do to make m4b files available from a Subsonic server?

As a test I added (from a previous thread) some wv files to my test server (4.7)
Even after scanning they still wouldn't appear (containing directory was listed in left frame)
I then added some album art to the folder and "poof" they appeared
So make sure you have some album art in the folder - and see if that makes 'em show up.

I added folder.jpg and some AlbumArt*.jpg files to the same folder with the m4b audiobook and re-scanned. Still doesn't appear in search or index.

Another thing that I did, which you may have but not mentioned, was to add the files types to the transcode settings.
Unfortunately I do have any m4b files on server to test.

I have m4b defined in transcode already. Still no luck.

Hi,
I know this is an old thread, but currently I'm having the same Problem. m4b Audiobooks don't show ub in the interface. On the left column I see the artis and in the content-Area I see the Book as Album. But when I play it nothign happens and when I open it there is nothing shown in it. Just empty space... The files themself are tagged correctly and shown perfectly in iTunes for example.
Greetings

>Again< solved the problem by myself because this forum seems to be f***** dead.. Very sad..
You have to do a few things:
* In Settings/Transcoding Add this Transcoding:
Name: m4b audio
Convert from: m4b
Convert to: mp3
Step 1: ffmpeg -i %s -f wav -
Step 2: lame -b %b - -
* In Settings General add m4b to Music Files
* In the folder where the m4b-file is stored in add a corresponding folder.jpg
* Rescan library
* The m4b-File will be shown an playable!

None of these solutions work for me, including the most recent post by daily-freak. I can't figure out how to troubleshoot this--shouldn't there be a log entry somewhere indicating why all the m4b files are skipped even though they are supposed to be scanned? Any further ideas?

I should note that all the m4b files do show up in the 'file' table; just not in the user interface.
