Help with External Video Player on iPad

Hi all,

Really enjoying Subsonic and I have it working great with all my music and videos on my PC. However, I am looking to be able to play video on my iPad through Subsonic for file types including .avi, .mpeg, .mkv, divx, etc and I haven't been able to get it to play. It will play with the built-in quicktime player, but only the audio track, it won't play the video.

Does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to play video on iPad with Subsonic? Whether that be a paid app from the Apple Store or other mechanism? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

There is not currently any solution available to play video on the iPad/iPhone/iTouch platform.

Thanks for the response Glenn, that's unfortunate!

Hope in the future Subsonic or 3rd party developers will support this or create an app to do so.

Hi zeross,

you could use a tool called 'segmenter.exe' (google is you friend...) and add a batch script which does all the piping.
Have look for a post called 'iPad streaming partly working' where I put more details.

So generally, I'd say there is a way to get the streaming working onto iPad, but you have to stop the processes manually from the task-manager ...

Hope this helps, Tom
