Subsonic working on iSub but not Browser (Remotely)

Hi there,

I am using Subsonic remotely through the iPhone iSub app and it is working correctly. However, when I try to access it using a web browser, I get the error message:

This web page is not available

This seems to be a bit odd. Does anyone have a similar issue or know how this can be solved?

In both cases I am using the same URL.

Let me know if you need further information.

Regards, Jaume

Could be the port on which your subsonic server is hosted is being blocked at the location(s) from which you are trying to access your server via the browser.

To test, open a command prompt, type telnet your.server.name.or.IP.address PORT#

for example, telnet subsonic.org 6000
will attempt to connect to subsonic.org on port 6000

If the telnet attempt goes right away to a blank screen, this means you are good.
If it hangs and eventually goes back to a command prompt with an error message, then it is not working.

If this (port blocked) is your issue, then try changing your subsonic server's port to 8080, or something else innocuous that (usually) won't be blocked.

Thanks for this. It looked like it was being blocked as you suggested.
