Unable to access web player on specific PC

Postby moliver » Wed Jan 09, 2013 2:17 am

Hi all,

I can access Subsonic through the android app and through the phone's web browser so I'm pretty sure I got it set up correctly and the port is forwarded correctly, however when I try to visit my server (myname.subsonic.org) through my work computer I get the standard "The connection has timed out" message.

I'm wondering if my company's IT might be blocking the connection for some reason and if there is anything I can do to get around it.

I can just use my phone all day, but I'd rather save my data allowance if possible.

I can see you site np so alls well at the server end :)
Can you access the internet generally from your work computer?
If so they may be blocking ports - you could try setting up https on the server and see if that bypasses the security checks.
Or speak to your IT dept - they are probably blocking ports to prevent p2p programs running.
If your server is not using tinternet for other functions you could try using port 80 for SS (standard http port) however that may clash with other software.

Note I edited out your SS add

I was getting the same thing so I had to setup a reverse proxy so subsonic was accessible from mydomain.com/subsonic instead of mydomain.com:4040

Thanks for the suggestions! We have full internet access but it looks like they are blocking port 4040 here. I'll try setting up HTTPS. I have no idea what a reverse proxy is but I'll Google it.
