Subsonic Forum

I have an album where a couple of MP3s fail to play in Subsonic. They do play successfully in Rhythmbox on my local computer. When I press play, the song timer does not increment by one second, and then the player stops. Other songs in the same album play just fine.
My Android Subsonic app streams and plays the song successfully.
Both my subsonic android app and the webplayer have the same active transcoders.
Version 4.7 build 3105
Server jetty-6.1x java 1.7.0_11, Linux 76.3MB / 109.8MB

I have the exact same problem, I thought it was the MP3's so I re-ripped a few of the songs that were doing this to me, but still having the problem, even after ripping to different bitrates.

I'm running Madsonic 4.8 beta 3, but had the problem on previous versions also. Running on Centos 6.3.

I'm thinking it's an issue with ffmpeg itself, since I can play the files on any other media player with no problems.

Trying to locate a different transcoder that's compatible with Linux to see if that works.

Unless your downsampling an mp3 ffmpeg shouldn't be involved. An mp3 should get passed directly to JW Player on the desktop.

You could also try the latest ffmpeg builds http://ffmpeg.org/download.html but that should only affect transcoded and downsampled media.

Hmmm.... let me create a user with no "max" on the bitrate and see if the songs that previously wouldn't play will play now... If that's the case, then it's definitely with the downsampling, and ffmpeg is the issue....

Edit: OK, definitely the downsampling... I can play all songs without downsampling, but as soon as I login with my regular account (limited to 128kbps, as are everyone else's accounts), certain songs don't play any more.

On a side note, I set my own account to "No Max", and some songs won't play. (The same ones that don't play normally on my account.) So I'm stuck again...

Now really confused, but I think I pinpointed the issue...

In the attached file, I added "mp3" to the first transcoding line (see highlight). It still resides in its default location next to "SubWiji", but it appears to hit the first line first and ignore the SubWiji line.

Now I can play the songs I couldn't play previously, even with a "max" bitrate of 128kbps for my user account.

Try this solution and we'll see if it works.

Check your player that is active. By default the Subwiji transcoding should NOT be checked for a player you're using on the desktop. From what you've done it suggests that your mp3's were trying to use the Subwijitranscoding on the desktop? By placing mp3 in the mp3 audio string you just put that string ahead in the list as SS will use the first available string if more than one transcoding is selected for a given player. Just a hunch...
