I just set myself up with an installation of your beautiful program and I have to say, it is very promising.

However, the major part of my music consists of large single .ape files with a .cue file in which track and timing information is contained. I have adapted the music filter to accept .ape and .cue and Subsonic seems to read them succesfully, that is, I can add them to my playlist and "play" them. Foobar, which is the music player I am using, doesn't want to play the stream though and gives the following error:

Could not read info (Unsupported format or corrupted file) from: [my server]

Foobar is correctly installed and can interpret .cue files to play .ape files.

I have also tried to transcode the .ape files from .ape to .mp3 (by installing LAME, enabling the transcoder for .ape -> .mp3 and enabling it in my user page) but this also doesn't work.

This problem also occurs while trying seperate .flac files (with or without transcoding)

I'm a bit lost at what the problem could be. I figure I must be doing something utterly wrong, but what...

By the way, does Subsonic support .cue files (in combination with single .ape files at all?

As a last tip, I would like a button with which you can add your whole music library (in the left panel) to a playlist at once, so you don't have to go through all the seperate files... This function could also come in handy for inserting complete albums at once.

Ok, so today I spend some extra time on this matter. Even though I had LAME properly installed I downloaded the transcoder pack from the subsonic site and it worked wonders.

At least .ape en .flac files will now play in Foobar, so that's a start. However I am still not able to play individual tracks in large single .ape files.

I think this should be supported, because there are a lot of people who listen to lossless music in this manner. I will post this in the request forum, if anyone knows if it's possible to let subsonic interpret .cue files please let me know.

Since most of my music is in .ape format I'm still pursuing options to play them via subsonic, because I like this software so much.

Today I stumbled upon CueProc. This commandline encoder can convert .cue files (that are linked to .ape files) into single tracks.

I installed the encoder according to the manual and tried to use it, but I failed.

What I've tried so far:

1. Unpack the files into the transcode directry of subsonic (C:\subsonic\transcode)
2. Under "Transcode" I created another transcoder routine:

| cue > mp3 | cue | mp3 | cueproc -c lame %s | lame -b %b - - |

I used cueproc instead of cueenc (which I should use according to the manual), because cueenc is not a .exe file and cueproc is, so I figured that should be the encoder.

3. Enable cue > mp3 in "Players" screen.
4. Add .cue file to playlist and play it.

And this is what will happen:

Foobar (the player I use) will receive the link from Subsonic and start to open it. After about 2 seconds I can see that it reads it as a .mp3 file of 128 kbit/s, but just for a split second before it jumps to the next file.

It seems to me that Foobar recognizes the file somehow, because it tells me that it is a .mp3 file. However, I do not get a list of mp3's (which I'd like) but still a single file. Also this file will "play" for just a nanosecond before it skips to the next one.

My knowledge of encoders and commandlines is very limited, so I can't figure out what the problem is at the moment. If anybody would be kind enough to try this approach with his or her knowlegde I would greatly appreciate it. For now I'll have to resort to the few .mp3 files I possess and trying to figure out what went wrong.
