Maintain Genre tags with Subsonic?

Hi,
I want to use Subsonic to maintain my genre tags, but having read some posts, it appears that Subsonic uses lastFM's tags, and no updates are permitted, or at least no user maintained tags are allowed. What is the situation on this?

Subsonic uses
your genre tags. Some of the Mods I believe use Last FM integration.

Is there any way to add a new genre to the list like World so I can update existing tags?

Using the SS tag editor - no but you could make a request over in the requests section.
However I think most users use external apps to manage their tags and use SS as a "quick fix" solution.
i.e. You can define multiple genre's in most tagging/media organisers eg New Age/World which you can't do in SS.

You can always type a genre into the genre field... you won't be able to use the drop down list and the "Set" button, but the genre tag for each song is just a textbox.
