Welcome message location? --RESOLVED

Postby supra92 » Tue Jan 29, 2013 10:39 pm

Just migrated server hardware for the first time in.... 7 years maybe?.... and thus was faced with the prospect of a whole new Tomcat6/SS install, rather than a simple in-place upgrade. Scientific Linux (RHEL) 6.3, Tomcat6, Subsonic 4.6.

Towards this end... everything migrated over fine (ie, the db and lucene directories in /var/subsonic that provide all the reviews and ratings, etc.), except for the Welcome Message (the one that's editable via Settings->General, and appears in the right area of the screen). I'm now seeing the default Subsonic welcome message, and have lost my own personalised one (which was actually a fairly long changelog detailing all the most recently-added albums and the dates they were added).

I'd really like to get that long changelog/welcome message back -- but evidently it's not in the SS database. I did a grep (search) of the jsp directory, and also found nothing. Does anyone know where this welcome message is stored?

Thanks!

Check the Login.jsp file under /var/subsonic/jetty/XXXX/webapp/WEB-INF/jsp (where XXXX is the build number).

Hmm... I took a look at that just now, and doesn't seem to be anything there -- appears to simply be the login page with the icons, textboxes, and login button.

The welcome message is seen after you login, sort of off to the right in the main window, pressed up against the right pane. Love Petty, btw! Especially his She's The One album (vastly underrated)...

Your post did help, however.... I've found the source for it, in "main.jsp".... here's the code:

<c:if test="${not empty model.welcomeMessage}">
<td style="vertical-align:top;width:20em">
<div style="padding:0 lem 0 lem;border-left:1px solid #<spring:theme code="detailColor"/>">
<sub:wiki text="${model.welcomeMessage}"/>
</div>
</td>
</c:if>

Any ideas how to access that "model" model? :)

Look in subsonic.properties.

there it is! awesome... thank you hakko. will remember to include that file in the migration next go-round... hopefully at least another 7 years from now :) And changing the subjectline to reflect the resolution...

Cheers,
