I am curious what the minimum amount is to pay to receive a license, is 10 the minimum(i know you want the most you can get, but I'm a broke college student)
It says its in euros, i live in the USA how is that going to transfer over? is it going to do an exchange rate? or is it going to just do $10?
Can I pay after my 30 day limit has expired?
Ex-audiogalaxy user here, I liked my audiogalaxy alot and loved the price(free) but since the Dropbox acquisition has shut it down I'm forced to look for something else. I've tried many apps for streaming and have found this one to be the best. if I have to pay I will support the developer here even tho there are work arounds that are legal due to running this program under a GPL. I think you would get more users if you didn't consistently call the service free if its not actually free, but that's a topic for another time. my first three questions are all that matter to me.

I agree it's a bit confusing, but I think it's free as in freedom, not as in beer. So the word "free" is correct, while "donation" isn't (it's clearly a payment). The only part you actually have to pay for is a *.subsonic.org redirection service, the rest of it is easily available for free, since it's free.

Also, if you want to be able to connect to the server via mobile app, you have to have a license after 30 days.

Anyone who complains about the price should spend a few days trying to dev their own software. Then see if it's worth it to you.
If you do go all the way and dev your own stuff, put it up for free. Your time means nothing.

The amount they want is really okay. 20 bucks are a very small amount for a software with these functions.
I paid the 20 bucks with a smile for a good software.
I will pay more if HTML5 will be implented fully

Enix I don't think you read my post properly... I never said he can't charge for his software, I just said calling it free and then demanding a 'donation' for a license is pretty wrong. Wanting to be paid for your hard work is completely fine, hes just going about it wrong. I'm completely willing to pay, I just have very little to pay with, due to being a full time college student and being out of work because of this. I said there's perfectly legal workarounds that I've found when looking for my answer because he has the software licensed under GPL, but I would rather pay him for his hard work. So I'm just trying to figure out what the minimum amount is that I can 'donate' to get a license.
So next time please read what I wrote before you get all pissy at me.

Nobody is demanding a donation, subsonic is free, however if you want to use it to stream to mobile devices & use the yourname.subsonic.org address after 30 days then you need to donate.
The donation amounts are clearly shown both on the main web page and within SS by clicking on donate link.
The min amount is €10

This has all been covered before...a donation brings additional (premium?) features..it's up to individual determination if those features are worth a donation. Locking this since we don't need yet another thread about this.
