Problem Description: I just d/l subsonic today and think it is great so far. I had a few weird problems though.
1st. I played a song through and then it was gone from my folders. I opened the folder to find that the extension had been changed to .mp3.old - No idea how that happened at all. I changed it back to .mp3 and it was fine. Then though I played a song all the way through and then when I tried to go back to it it played for a split second and then just stopped. I cleared the player, added the whole album and it still won't play the track. It played it once through no problem though.

Troubleshooting Steps: For the first, like I said I found the file and changed the extension. I tried to see if that was the same issue for the second but it was not. I deleted the playlist and reloaded it, I closed subsonic and restarted it.

Playback Application and version: I was playing the song from my chrome internet browser
Subsonic Version: 4.7 (build 3106) – September 12, 2012
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_01, Windows Vista (57.3 MB / 148.9 MB)

Nor do I It sounds as if you have some tagging or media management tool running as well.
With regard to problems playing a track that has previously been played - try clearing the browser cache in chrome (shift-ctrl-del)
That usually sorts that out.

I think you also need to update your java install we are now on version 38 for 1.6.

I tried clearing the cache but it still didn't work

I switched to my wife's laptop and the song that didn't work previously now works again but it happened to a different track. It was strange. I shuffled and skipped the song accidentally and I play it and it will load for a split second but then stop. I can even have it go in the middle of the track for a second before it just stops. I played around within the album and all the other tracks worked fine. Its a really weird error

That is definitely a cache problem but the problem is I think that we are dealing with both the chrome cache and flash cache.
One thing I forgot to mention was after deleting the chrome cache is to refresh the page.

That's a problem filename all right.

"\" is a path seperator, so putting it in"2004\05" may cause problems. The "." is supposed to only be used as an extension designator as in "filename.ext" Try setting up a test folder as X:\Music\testtracks\Karmalaa.mp3 and see if that solves your problem.

If your naming convention is dear to you, you might have to modify it to 16b_Live_2004-05\Karmalaa.mp3 or some other method that adheres to conventional filename rules.

Its running on Windows so yes it is a path separator.
I am reading it as the 05 is the track number.
I have a number of artists with a period in the filename path e.g. S.U.N. Project\2003 - Experimental\01 S.U.N. Project - Dont Talk To Me.mp3
SS plays them np
