cant get the port forwarding to work!!

Like many people, apparently, I have had a difficult time getting the port forwarding, router setup, to work. Currently, within Subsonic in my browser, it says "router found", and it finds my personal server name as registered but cannot connect with it. I have messed with so many settings that Im not sure what to check at this point. I was excited to find the Subsonic service and it sounded promising, so I donated and now Im sorry I did. Ive spent 6 hours looking through forums and walkthroughs. I have an Iphone using iSub, and Windows 7. I can stream my music over my home network, but not on 3G, which is a major reason I embarked on joining Subsonic in the first place. A refund would work as much as spending several more hours working on it. Please help any way you can.

So why did you not try it before donating :?
Subsonic has no limitations for the first 30 days and then you need to donate to carry on using your iphone and the redirect service.
Telling us that you have read forums etc is not conveying much information (in fact none).
Read http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/ which tells you most of what you need to know.
As you can see SS on your home network then you are nearly there - the only thing left should be opening the port on the router.
For details on how to do this for your particular router go to http://portforward.com

Stupid me, I thought that part of the reason it wasnt working early on was that I did not have the key from donating. I saw good reviews for the iSub app and figured I would get it working, that it was only a matter of time. Ive already gone through the monroeworld thing and the portforwarding.com. Live and learn.

and BTW, someone at iSub offerred a Teamviewer session to troubleshoot, which is one hell of a lot better than the painfully slow method of troubleshooting through this forum. As for the more specific info, it looks like Ive successfully established a static IP address and my specific router is not listed on the portforward.com site, so I did what I could with it, and used another similar service, which also did not list my router specifically. Mine is a RealTek router, and I am no computer genius, so ALL of this is router config is new to me. I have named my personal server and in the Subsonic network settings, it shows that it locates my router, and that my personal server (myname.subsonic.org) is registered but it cannot connect, due to a connection timeout. So if you can help, great. I didnt know when I donated that I would be adding to my frustration.

Before my pal went Nexus 4 (as I did) he had 3gs and iSub..it IS impressive. You are so very close, I'd hate to see you give up when you may be a few clicks/reboots away...

Yes. I've been there several times lately. I'm out running errands for a time and will be back at my PC in a few hours. Thanks for the support.

I too cannot get it working. I followed the guide for my asus n16 -and all is working as it's supposed to.

when I type in my paid for domain, I get the local 192.168.1.xxx:4040 as I mapped it to my subsonic server system. According to the instructions above, it's supposed to show the ip of my wan, not my lan.

I get the access menu on the server machine, but on no other machines on my network.

Why was it so easy on Audiogalaxy? What did they do differently?

All is NOT working if you cannot pass the canyouseeme.org test for 4040. Your router has a FAQ on ASUS:
http://support.asus.com/FAQ/Detail.aspx ... 1&m=RT-N16
Make the port open by this, reboot router and test at canyouseeme. Once we get passed the firewall, we should be able to hit the registration server (your .org addy). :)

edit: ensure Windows firewall isn't also blocking Subsonic!

Ya the port is closed according to that app.

That's a screenshot of my Asus screen.

Not sure what else to do ...

That means that the firewall on the server is blocking SS.
Cannot help further as you omitted to inform us what you are running SS on :?
p.s. The port forwarding on the router looks ok but that only effects access from outside your lan.

I turned off the firewall (even though subsonic is listed as an exception) and still no access to the port.
