registering easy to remember address behind proxy

Hello

Im trying to register our easy to remember freindly name for our subsonic server behind our proxy server at school
Our proxy redirects all web traffic to port 8080 so when trying to register our freindly name for use on the internet i get an error message....

Status: Failed to test web address. Connect to subsonic.org/66.49.215.227:80 timed out (ConnectTimeoutException)

Acces to the web site via IP or DNS name works OK

Our proxy requires authentication do i need to pass credentials along with the request?

Is it because its trying to register using port 80 ?

Any suggestions would be great

Is there a way round this , or can i email somebody at subsonic with my freindly name so they can register it there on my behalf ?

Thanks

even if you somehow got the name registered you still wouldnt be able to connect through your schools network due to the fact that they probably have a firewall running that blocks port 80 & 4040

Hello
Thanks for your reply
I can connect externally to our subsonic server using our external ip on port 4040 so i know the firewall is not blocking traffic
I cannot use our "freindly" name of xxxxx.subsonic.org because it wont register the name from within our network that is the issue
I need to know how subsonic connects to its server to register the "freindly" name because its not getting through our proxy server
Thanks
