Some songs cut off and do not play entire song.

I'm doing a trial of this setup and like it so far. I'm a previous Audiogalaxy and find it to be a nice replacement.

However I'm experiencing some issues where a song cuts off instead of playing the entire song. I've verified that the entire song exists in the source file, but for some reason Subsonic doesn't stream the entire song.

The other issue I experience is the server seems to lock up, and i have to restart the service or kill the executables and allow it to restart. (This is on Windows Home Server version 2 (Windows 2008 Server).

If anyone can help with these 2 issues, I'd sure appreciate it.

Are your two issues actually one and the same? Meaning, do your songs cut off when the service locks up or have you had times when the song cuts off and the service is still running fine and functional?

Sorry.. they are different issues.

The service is running fine when the song stops. It goes on to the next track in the middle of a song and keeps playing.. this may be one out of 20 songs that happens this way. It happens both on the webpage playback and on the Android app.

Hope that helps.

Man, that's weird. Do you know if you have any other services using the same ports on that server? Example, IIS using the same web ports as subsonic.

Also, you could try upping the memory for the subsonic service. To do that you right-click on the tray-icon and go in to the control panel. Then on the second tab just up the memory, save and restart the service.

I've having this issue as well. I can't seem to find any commonality between tracks or regularity in the frequency of the occurrence. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. I don't see anything weird in the log files either.

I'm running Subsonic 4.7 through Tomcat on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit.

Same issue here, I can replicate it on any song that it happens on. It is not just a fluke occurrence, it definitely has something to do with the MP3 file. I'm guessing it may have something to do with the way the song was ripped, as sometimes it happens to a few songs on the same album. I can give examples if need be.

I'm glad I brought it up... it seems that there could be many users having this issue.

Have you checked with an MP3 Validator that the header record of the MP3 has the correct duration data in it? Often tag software can screw this up if not done right...

I'll have to play the same album over and over and see if the same song trips it up.. then we can check what's different about the file. But I'm not sure it happens on the same files.. I think it's more random.

I've identified a particular file and narrowed it down to the second that the song cuts. I ran it through the validator, it found problems, I repaired the file, but it still cuts out.

I ran the validator against my entire collection and played some of the files with the same type of error and encountered no errors. I'll try to find more files with issues.
