Exactly the same issue I'm having. I downgraded to 4.6, which seemed to pick up the new items.

For anyone that may stumble onto this thread, I believe I resolved the issue by reformatting my drives to NTFS. I have different drives connected, and noticed only the NTFS formatted drives were getting updated. FAT32 drives did not. So I moved all my music off the FAT32 drives, did a quick reformat as NTFS, and moved the tunes back. Rescan, and has been working better.

Good luck if you are in the same boat!

well, i run ss 4.7 on a unraid server. it seems to add all the files no prob... so far for the good. anyway, i had my share of frustration with ss using 4.6 as well as 4.7 on a 'normal' linux machine... files where always there (as they are now) but only parts (sometimes more, sometimes less) showing under newly added. actually thats a prob since i started using ss, what was not so long ago with 4.5. over the time i used any kind of mix of hdd formats (fat, ntfs, ext and with the 'new-ish server' reiser) the prob is persistant. so i would not go the way of blaming it on hdd-formats. it doesnt make any sense anyway! if the software recognizes a hdd, it should recognize the files on it... if the files are actually there to be played (means obviously added) they should also show up as added/ recently added. rite now i am playing a file that was added about 5 hrs ago (along with many others) it is there if you go to it directly, it plays (no prob) but together with about 50% of the files added at this point it doesnt show under 'recently added' - what actually s*x!!! we are adding about 100gb a week, often more. nobody has an idea what was recently added by the rest of ppl (at least not reliably).
i would rather call it a bug/ programming error than a hdd-format issue! its a ongoing thing thru several releases and constant in so far that you are surprised what all seem to be not newly added albums.
for a while we thought we are on to the prob and that it is showing under the date first added to any connected hdd. but even that is not always true.

so we came to the agreement, it is a magical black hole in the recent added list - poss. caused by aliens on drugs trying to screw with our perception on time and date....

anyway, any more logical reason or fix would be highly appreciated!!!!

see my post above, but this is pure 'i wanna believe that....' at best. it might improved your scans for some reason, but it neither cause nor solution!
and btw, not everybody can just 'gates'sify his drives to get a subjectively higher percentage of 'recently added files'.
i get without changes in hdd format varying results i would put between 25 and 65% of the added material. not exactly measured or counted - just over the thumb!
(example i added about 160 albums earlier, roughly 40 showing up on the first 4 pages, a couple more thereafter, going back about 2 weeks.

its a software issue, not a hdd-format prob m8!

19,014 artists
53,206 albums
609,965 songs
6894.53 GB
42,832 hours

on a dedicated server with plenty of hardware to spare to run it (athlon IIx4 x64, 8gb, 30tb hdd arrays doing nothing else but hosting music and other media)
