After a clean install of Windows 7 and SS/MC . . .
Subsonic service does not start when Windows starts.
Startup Folder contains a shortcut that points to subsonic-agent.exe
In Services control panel: Subsonic is set to Automatic
Please advise.
Thanks!

What does the event viewer say?
Does it start if you manually start it?

Now that you mention it, I haven't looked at the event viewer. I will tonight. It only seems to work if I click on Start>Subsonic>System Tray Icon.

The Subsonic service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

I haven't used the standard Windows install for some time now, but isn't there a setting somewhere on the services panel that allow you to check a box that says something about allowing the service to interact with the desktop?
Just a hunch ...

Yes, I looked into that. It was checked all along.

Then the most likely explabation is that the registry entry isn't configured properly to allow the service to interact. The easiest fix is probably to just do a clean reinstall.
I'd uninstall all Java instances and Subsonic through Conrol panel/Programs and Setting, delete the C:\Subsonic directory if you don't have a lot of history yet, and then reinstall the latest Java and Subsonic.
If you already have a lot of users and history, you can try it without deleting C:\Subsonic, or making a backup to try and restore later.

I have already performed a reinstall. Problem persists.
I'd like to try and repair the registry settings.
This new behavior with Subsonic follows a fresh install of Windows 7 on a SSD drive. So the OS is clean and updated. Java is current too.
(sigh)

Have a look in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Subsonic
The Start parameter should have a value (Dword) of 2.
Also check any other ControlSets you may have.
