Problem Description: Remote Hangs 404
Troubleshooting Steps: Increased Memory limit, Re installed server, reinstalled client, reconfigured modem... port forwarding... dmz.. nothing just hangs after while.
Playback Application and version: Standard Subsonic Web Interface, android client, minisub
Subsonic Version: 4.7 (build 3105)
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_27, Linux (31.9 MB / 83.3 MB)
Hardware Platform: Ubuntu Server 12.04.2
Java Memory Limit: 512mb

Modem Cisco EPC3825. Server has reserved ip and it's in dmz area.
port forwarding is set for multiple services only subsonic is problem.
Tried x.subsonic.org andress instead of dyndns, problem remains.

Read everything could find and I have no idea.

Any suggestions?

Version 4.7 should work with Java 1.7. I would try uninstalling 1.6 and installing 1.7, then test Subsonic.

No difference... Still hangs
I'm very confused because service doesn't hang. I think problem is in cisco:s modem because devices in lan work perfectly...

But on other hand

Does it matter that I use OpenJDK?

Should I use sun-JDK?

If you have port forwarding, you don't need to have the server in the DMZ (unless it's there for other reasons).

Try putting it in the "internal" network (if nothing else requires DMZ) and forward the port from the router to the server.

Still no luck server is now behind NAT and portforwarding work for everything else but not for subsonic (ftp, ssh...)

I tried to register server to "x".subsonic.org again and it returns "Status: "x".subsonic.org returned HTTP error code 404 Not Found "

When restarted service by ssh returns "Status: Successfully registered web address. "

I'm not using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding because it does't work and checking the box only returns error in log "upnp router not found"

Try it with the uPNP turned on. I get the error from Subsonic saying it's not turned on also, but it still works.

Says that no router found... Can't Forward adress to x.subsonic.org -> reboot service -> reboot router -> no difference

Let's test this methodically... try each of these and let me know where it fails. Once it fails you don't need to continue on:

1. On the subsonic server, open

Some how router and server reboot fixed the problem this time... I have tried that before now over 20h running without any problems.

So far so good (still wondering the modem)

Modems and routers do fail eventually due to heat which does tend to get generated by streaming. If either component is getting close to failure, streaming may just put enough stress on the weak device to cause it to fail once it gets up to critical temperature.

Sometimes you can verify and do a short term fix by opening the enclosiure and putting a fan on the suspect device. I've had good luck with my most recent Netgear WND3700 wireles router, but prior to this one I usually had to replace my router after about 2 years. Wireless routers are more suspicious than modems, but they can also fail - of course many gateway units from the isp are combination devices that include modem and router with WAP all in one device.

Modem/Router/WlanAP = Cisco EPC3825 "can deliver downstream data rates in excess of 440 Mbps and upstream data rates in excess of 120 Mbps" If I believe cisco and my contract is 100/2 so i think it's not too much but I have had problems with it before and I have been looking for EuroDOCSIS 3.0 bridge modem somewhere but no luck yet... NOT EVEN FROM ISP!

My current router was a replacement for a Cisco VPN router. I did get an extra few months out of it by cracking the case and drilling it full of holes to get some extra air flow.

All routers are pretty much a crap shoot. My current router is holding up very well, but I don't have any illusions that my experience with it is a reliable yardstick for the brand or model. More likely, I just got lucky and got a "good one". While in the process of installing the current router, I also hard wired most of the house with CAT 6 so there isn't much load on the wireless anymore. I think that may be the biggest factor in the performance of this current router. It mostly serves as a connector for our mobile devices and there is currently only one lightly used desktop accessing the network over wireless that only rarely is used for media streaming.

Keeping any router in a cool, well ventilated space should also help.

All the problems are now gone after changing bridge cabel-modem and setting up dd-wrt asus router.
