Subsonic Forum

So for some reason I can no longer get subsonic to open in a browser window, operate on my phone or work in general. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling to no avail. A new installation does not even put the subsonic icon in my systray now. I did allow a java update before all this happened, but i am still on java 1.6 so i don't think it is tied to the java 1.7 issues. When I try to open in a browser window it says that no connection can be made. I have internet connection otherwise for all other internet activities. I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall a couple of times now. What are my options from here? What more information is needed? When i repeatedly try to click on start service, i can make out a message in a dos box saying- could not start service, error code 5?

I too have this problem. Subsonic worked up until a day or 2 ago and now the service will not start. I have not done any updates for Java. I have run some windows updates. I am running windows 7. I have downloaded and installed the latest Subsonic version. the service will not start and when I try to start it in DOS it says "Could Not start service. Error Code: 5"
I have donated/paid for subsonic. I hope that a resolution can be added to this post so that I can get subsonic back up and running again. Please let me know if I can get you any further information.

I think this is because we have Java 1.7, and Subsonic is incompatible with 1.7.

I am also having the same problem with the error code 503 when i try to access the webpage. I recently had my computer fixed so I thought this was the problem but it apparently is not if everyone else is having this problem. Anyone else getting the 503 code?

Error code 5 is "Access Denied".

Make sure you are running Subsonic with enough privileges to access the media folders as well as the program folders.

How do i go about doing this?

Subsonic 4.7 should be compatible with Java 1.7, so I don't think that's the issue.

I run on Linux, so I don't know anything about the Windows version. But generally speaking, check the Subsonic "service" under Control Panel, and make sure it's set to run as the appropriate user (which I think is "Local Service".) You should be able to run it as yourself (or even as the local administrator) to see if it will start.
