Trial Period Expired with License - Multiple Occurrences

I have a license. I know where to place it to activate it. Problem: Intermittently I will get the message that my trial period has expired. I have to go to the server and go to subsonic, settings, network, donate. On the donate page my license and username are already there, I have to click on save or submit and then everything is fine again.

I suspect this happens when ever subsonic encounters a period of being unable to contact home. I previously ran a service called k9 on the computer that would block internet traffic during the night (to keep kids off internet when they should be sleeping) and this problem I describe would happen all the time. I have disabled k9 now and it happens a lot less but still enough to be frustrating. But I may be way off base with this hunch.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help and despite my complaints here, subsonic is an amazing product. Thanks for all the hard work that was put into it.

Add *.subsonic.org to the whitelist in K9. I believe K9 only blocks ports 80 (http) and 443 (https), so unless Subsonic uses either of those ports to "phone home", it shouldn't have an issue with using port 4040.

Thanks for the advice for getting it to work with K9 but the trial period expired problem happens even with k9 completely disabled. Also I believe K9 ignores the white list when it is blocking internet based on time, it simply blocks all internet activity unless you enter into supervisor mode.

Let's completely take k9 out of the picture as I have disabled it to try and resolve this problem. My problem is that subsonic is reporting that my trial period has expired when I have previously put in a valid email and license key. when this happens... I go to the donation page it already has my email and license key in the text boxes. I click on save or whatever the post button is titled and subsonic goes back into licensed mode. Subsonic stays in licensed mode for days maybe weeks, but something eventually happens which triggers it to back into trial mode.

I experienced this before, and it just happened to me again. I don't have k9.

Unfortunately I don't have my public IP address memorized so I can't access my server to go and update it until I get back home – Leaving me stuck without music at work all day

This is clearly a bug that needs to be addressed.

I believe licensing has changed over the past year. It's now "monthly" or "annual", instead of a one-time fee (how it was a year ago or so).

You may need to renew your license, however I would send Sindre a PM or email to verify.

That is true – I assumed that I was grandfathered in, but if that is not the case then that would be the problem.

If previous premium users are not grandfathered into premium, it would be nice to have been given a heads up instead of a sudden lack of access.
