Subsonic access via NAS

Newbie here so please don't shoot me if this is covered elsewhere. I've searched for NAS, D-Link, Sharecenter etc. but could not see a reference to this issue on the forums.

I'll keep it brief as I suspect that the first response will be either a link to another thread or a comment telling me it simply can't be done: I've got a D-Link 320L Sharecenter and no home PC and I'm trying to work out some way of accessing stored music via Subsonic. I've seen a half-French language thread on here that mentions something to do with Java but I don't think that would work in my case.

Is there any way to achieve access?

Thanks in advance.

NAS is efftively only a storage medium. Other than the firmware that manages connections, you usually cannot install software on a NAS.

Even if you were very knowledgeable about the device and programming for it, and managed created a new firmware for it that somehow tied into the Subsonic service, the processing chip on the NAS would probably not even be close to the ability to hand transcoding on the fly.

Thanks for the reply and explanation. I've been trying to find a D-link NAS compatible streaming media player and it sounds like that's my only option.
