Another cannot access subsonic from network question

Postby gamle_bardun » Sat Jun 21, 2008 6:32 am

On my fresh winxp install, subsonic works very nice .. on localhost ( or IP or name ), but i cannot access subsonic from another pc in my network.

I've tried disabling the windows firewall, install simple version of subsonic, tomcat/war version - tried a whole range of ports ..

Just for fun i installed filezilla, opened port 21 - and it works a treat ..

I realize this may be the wrong forum, but from all i have read in other posts here it seems there is quite a competent lot using it :)

Wether i get this solved or not through this channel - Thank You, Sindre for a really great application !

kind regards
Ketil

Are you trying to access the server from outside your local network? If you have made sure your firewall is allowing port XXXX and that it is the same as the port that Subsonic is supposed to use then it may be a port forwarding issue. You need to tell your router to allow those ports too. If you aren't sure if it is enabled it probably isn't, so go to Google and search for something like "port forwarding how-to [router model number]" and you will find instructions on how to set up port forwarding. Just have your router forward all traffic to your subsonic port to your computer.

If your issue is different then provide more detail and I'll see how I can help :D

Thanks for advice and help. I've been pulling my hair on this one. The entire scenario is my local unofficial class c home network ..
After trying a creative amount of remedies, I finally took the Windows firewall / ICS service behind the shed and shot it. Installed Comodo freeware firewall, and the issue is no longer an issue. I'm really at a loss as to what happened here - I consider myself a fairly competent user - but no tweaking or pleading could allow port 80 to pass ..

Thanks again for the help !

Kind regards
