Server at wrong address

Postby smurf5599 » Mon Apr 08, 2013 8:01 pm

Hi, I installed Subsonic on my laptop to ensure it would work ok before installing on my WHS 2011 HP Microserver. I got it working fine complete with isub for my iphone after the port forwarding. I then installed it on my HP Server, added the new folders and again it seemed to work fine until I tried to access from isub where it failed every time. Now I dont know if I've screwed something up as when I attempt to access http://myname.subsonic.org from another pc it attempts to connect to the IP address of my laptop and not the HP server.

Can anyone suggest a way of pointing it to my new installation and not the first one as I'm a bit stumped here.

Hope this all makes sense :-)

Many thanks

Just a quick follow on , checking with CanYouSeeMe.org returns everthing is ok on the port fowarding.

Success: I can see your service on xx.xxx.xx.xx on port (4040)
Your ISP is not blocking port 4040 - I assume if this is ok I should be good to go :D

My network page:

Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding).

Status: Successfully forwarding port 4040. :)

Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address.

Status: mbridges.subsonic.org responded successfully. :)

Using another pc still gets the following message :-

Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 192.168.1.102:4040 ( 102 is My original laptop installation, 100 is my server )

I've removed all traces of Subsonic from my server and reinstalled but its still the same

Does anyone know how I can do to resolve it ?

Many thanks

If they are outside of your network then they need to connect to the IP address assigned to you by your ISP.

Go to www.whatismyipaddress.com from the server. Then send him to the address shown on that page with the ":4040" at the end...

Hi Glenn, thanks for this,

I actually got it working by clearing out all of the Java Temporary Internet Files and re sending the subsonic address.

I'm using Isub on my iphone and it now works :D

I'll see if I can break it again and work out exactly what I did to fix it ... I do like a challenge :)

Regards
